Editorial Policy
Our commitment to accuracy, transparency, and user trust in every calculator we build
At Calcyfy, our mission is to provide accurate, transparent, and user-friendly online calculators that simplify complex calculations across finance, tax, health, fitness, mathematics, and unit conversions. This Editorial Policy explains how we research, verify, build, review, and maintain every calculator and explanatory article we publish. It also outlines the principles that guide our work to ensure credibility, fairness, and reliability for our users.
1. Editorial Mission
At Calcyfy, we aim to:
- •Deliver clear, evidence-based calculators for everyday and professional use.
- •Explain every formula, assumption, and limitation in simple, plain language.
- •Uphold user safety, accuracy, and transparency, especially in sensitive categories like Finance/Tax and Health/Fitness.
Our editorial philosophy is grounded in trust, accessibility, and accountability.
2. Source Standards (Our Reliability Hierarchy)
We follow a strict hierarchy of trustworthy sources to ensure that every formula and rule we use is based on verifiable, up-to-date data:
1. Primary/Official Sources:
Government agencies, statutes, standards, and regulatory bodies (e.g., RBI, MCA, SEBI, IRS, HMRC, WHO, CDC, NIST, BIS, ISO).
2. Peer-Reviewed Research:
Academic journals, textbooks, and publications from recognized scientific and financial institutions.
3. Reputable Secondary Sources:
Major universities, professional associations, or recognized industry experts.
4. Tertiary/Background Sources:
Used only to provide context or examples, never as the basis for formulas or calculations.
Each calculator includes a Sources section with direct citations and links. We avoid paywalled or unverifiable data and always prefer the most current official documentation.
3. How Calcyfy Calculators Are Built
Every calculator on Calcyfy is created through a documented, multi-step workflow to ensure accuracy and transparency:
1. Research
Compile official parameters, constants, and thresholds from trusted sources.
2. Design
Define variables, constraints, edge cases, and default assumptions.
3. Formula Specification
Document the mathematical expression precisely and label all variables and units.
4. Implementation
Develop a pure, side-effect-free compute function using modern TypeScript for precision and consistency.
5. Testing
Perform unit and regression tests against official or independently verified examples.
6. Review
Subject both content and code to editorial and subject-matter expert (SME) review.
7. Publication
Publish with a visible "Updated on" date and linked sources.
Details of our process are available on our How We Calculate page and Changelog.
4. Content Standards & Source Verification
Each calculator or content piece is built using verified, authoritative sources appropriate to its topic sensitivity and user impact.
Health & Fitness
Based on: Official medical formulas and guidelines from WHO, CDC, NIH, peer-reviewed medical journals, and recognized health organizations.
Update cadence: Sources verified quarterly and whenever medical guidelines change.
Finance & Tax
Based on: Standard financial formulas, accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS), and official tax regulations from IRS, HMRC, RBI, and other government agencies.
Update cadence: Verified quarterly and upon policy or law updates.
Math, Statistics, Converters & Units
Based on: Standard mathematical formulas, SI units (NIST, ISO), and verified conversion factors from official measurement authorities.
Update cadence: Verified annually and as standards evolve.
Calcyfy is committed to accuracy through rigorous source verification and testing. We base all calculations on official, authoritative sources and welcome feedback from our users.
5. Assumptions, Units, and Rounding
We maintain consistency and transparency in every calculation by following these standards:
- •Units: SI (International System) by default, with regional unit toggles (e.g., inches, pounds).
- •Assumptions: Clearly stated, such as compounding frequency or density models.
- •Rounding: Documented and standardized (e.g., to two decimal places or using bankers' rounding).
- •Edge Cases: Inputs validated with clear error messages and tooltips.
6. Accuracy, Testing, and Quality Assurance (QA)
To ensure the highest level of accuracy and reliability, we:
- •Implement unit tests for every calculator function.
- •Conduct regression testing to prevent formula drift.
- •Perform spot checks against verified real-world data or examples.
- •Maintain accessibility QA, ensuring screen-reader compatibility, proper contrast, and keyboard navigation.
7. Regional Variants & Effective Dates
Some calculators are region-specific (e.g., Income Tax India, Mortgage Calculator US). Each such tool explicitly lists:
- •Jurisdiction/region
- •Effective period
- •Last updated date
When policies or tax rates change, we update calculators promptly and log those updates in our Changelog. URLs clearly indicate the region (e.g., /finance/income-tax-india).
8. Corrections Policy
We are committed to accuracy and transparency. If you notice an error:
- 1.Use the "Report an Issue" link or our Contact Page.
- 2.We review reports within 2 business days.
- 3.Verified corrections are published quickly, and major edits are noted in our Changelog.
Significant corrections are also labeled directly on the calculator page with a timestamp and summary.
9. Editorial Independence, Conflicts, and Advertising
- •Editorial Independence: Advertisers, sponsors, or affiliates have no influence over our formulas, methodology, or ranking of tools.
- •Transparency: All sponsored or affiliate links are clearly marked.
- •Integrity First: We never accept "pay-to-rank" or biased placements.
10. Use of AI Assistance
Calcyfy may use AI tools for limited purposes, such as grammar checking, UI text drafting, or code scaffolding. However:
- •All mathematical logic and formulas are human-defined.
- •All content is human-reviewed and fact-checked before publication.
- •No calculator or formula is ever auto-generated by AI without expert oversight.
11. Data & Privacy in Calculators
Your privacy matters.
- •By default, all calculations are performed in your browser, and data is not stored.
- •For calculators requiring server-side processing, only the minimum data is processed temporarily.
- •If you submit data via feedback or contact forms, it is handled per our Privacy Policy.
12. Accessibility & Inclusive Language
We are committed to building inclusive and accessible calculators that align with WCAG 2.2 AA standards. We ensure:
- •Properly labeled input fields and focus indicators.
- •Support for reduced motion and high-contrast themes.
- •Clear, jargon-free explanations, with definitions for necessary technical terms.
13. Style, Notation, and Examples
To maintain consistency and clarity:
- •We use SI units and standard mathematical symbols.
- •Decimal precision is consistent by domain (e.g., 2–4 decimals for finance).
- •Each calculator includes worked examples so users can understand and verify results manually.
14. Security & Responsible Disclosure
Security is a top priority. If you discover a vulnerability or issue, please email us with "SECURITY" in the subject line.
📧 Email: calcyfy@gmail.com
We promptly investigate and appreciate responsible disclosure.
15. Reuse & Embedding
We allow embedding of select calculators. If embedding:
- •Maintain functionality and attribution.
- •Do not alter results or misrepresent the tool.
- •Respect technical or API usage limits.
Calcyfy may revoke embedding rights at any time.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Editorial Policy periodically. The "Last Updated" date above reflects the current version. Major revisions will be logged in our Changelog, and substantive updates will be noted on this page.
